Lakeshore’s veterinary social workers (VSW) focus on the emotional needs of pet owners whose loved ones are being treated at Lakeshore Veterinary Specialists. We understand that a pet is a member of the family and when they are ill or injured, extra support is often needed. We can help guide you through important decisions with empathy and understanding, or simply just be with you during difficult times.

Services Offered:

  • Short-term crisis support
  • Facilitate decision making
  • Support during or after euthanasia
  • Information on grief and pet loss
  • Community referrals/resources

How to Contact a VSW:

Pet Loss Support Group

We understand how difficult it is to say goodbye to a beloved pet. We would like to offer you the support and help you may need. Lakeshore Veterinary Specialists provides a pet loss support group at our Glendale location at no charge and serves the entire community. A safe environment is provided to discuss and process your feelings of loss, or the anticipated loss of your pet. Each group is conducted in an empathetic, quiet, and respectful manner. The group is facilitated by our Veterinary Social Worker (VSW) with significant pet loss support experience.

Allow Us to Help You in Your Time of Need

Sessions for the Pet Loss Support Group are held on the third Tuesday of each month at 6:30 pm. All are welcome; however, we ask that you email our VSW at lhacker@lakeshorevetspecialists.com to let us know you will be attending the session.
