Certified Veterinary Technician

 

Lakeshore is currently offering a $500.00 Sign-on Bonus to Licensed Certified Veterinary Technicians! 

 

Lakeshore is looking for a full time Certified Veterinary Technician to join our Emergency Team.  This technician will serve in a "float" capacity and will work one over night a week at each Lakeshore location: Glendale, Port Washington, and Oak Creek. 

 

Ideal candidates:

  • Have 3-5 years of veterinary ER experience
  • Are energetic TEAM players with great communication skills
  • Are able to fully use their technical skills as well as learn from new experiences
  • Provide input and assist with all aspects of patient care

 

Proposed schedule:

Overnights, 6PM-6AM one night per week in each of our three locations.  No weekends, which promotes a great work/ life balance!

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

While under the supervision of the Hospital Manager and the Technical Supervisor, the CVT must be able to effectively and accurately perform the following duties that include but are not limited to:

  • Venipuncture
  • Catheter placement
  • Radiology
  • Anesthesia monitoring
  • Physical examinations and patient assessment
  • Laboratory work
  • Pharmacy
  • Patient recovery
  • Compassionate care for our patients
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements and duties will vary based on experience and patient needs. 

Requirements

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

Experience

  • Technician credentials required (State Licensure)
  • Minimum of 3 years of emergency experience as a certified veterinary technician 
  • Experience in managing critical patients preferred

 

Education

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Formal Veterinary Technology education or Applied Science degree preferred

 

Skills

  • Computer Skills: Knowledge of Word Processing software. It will also be necessary to become proficient in the use of the practice management software, ImproMed Infinity, and to perform clerical work (update patient records and charges) with speed and accuracy.
  • Client Care and Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication and proficiency at greeting clients graciously. Maintain a harmonious and cooperative relationship with those contacted in the course of a day. We require for all team members to know the basics of our Client Care Specialist duties (i.e. taking deposits, scheduling appointments, answering internal and external calls, etc.).
  • Confidentiality: With access to proprietary and other confidential information, must be highly trustworthy and able to handle confidential records and bank deposits.
  • Physical Demands: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

    • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fractious animals, various hazardous chemicals, zoonotic diseases and radiation. The employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
  • Other Skills and Abilities: Ability to analyze and resolve problems. Must be organized, detailed and able to prioritize tasks in a fast paced environment. Must be willing to regularly travel to all three Lakeshore locations.
