Kennel Assistant

 

Lakeshore is currently seeking a Full-Time Kennel Assistant to join our Oak Creek team! At Lakeshore Veterinary Specialists, we have an exceptional work environment where employees learn, collaborate and have fun! You would work with talented team members in a multitude of specialties, including surgery, dermatology, internal medicine, oncology, neurology and a fast-paced, exciting ER.

 

Schedule:  Every Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday 11a-8p, every other weekend 11a-8p

 

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS 

While under the supervision of the Hospital Manager and the Technical Supervisor, the kennel assistant must be able to effectively and accurately perform the following duties that include but are not limited to:

  • Assist technical team by completing routine cleaning, including but not limited to dusting, vacuuming, mopping, and laundry
  • Garbage/recycling according to task lists and OSHA requirements.
  • Complete routine disinfecting of clinic surfaces and equipment, including but not limited to disinfecting kennels, wet sinks
  • Perform proper restraint techniques
  • Complete stocking procedures to ensure treatment and exam rooms are well prepared and contributes to efficient delivery of quality patient care
  • Know and understand normal vital signs for dog & cat   
  • Radiology
  • Laboratory work
  • Pharmacy
  • Patient recovery
  • Compassionate care for our patients
  • Other duties as assigned*

*Requirements and duties will vary based on experience and patient needs.

Requirements

Experience

  • Recent experience working with animals is a plus.
Education
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Formal Veterinary Technology education or Applied Science degree preferred

Skills

  • Computer Skills: Knowledge of Word Processing software. It will also be necessary to become proficient in the use of the practice management software, ImproMed Infinity, and to perform clerical work (update patient records and charges) with speed and accuracy.
  • Client Care and Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication and proficiency at greeting clients graciously. Maintain a harmonious and cooperative relationship with those contacted in the course of a day. We require for all team members to know the basics of our Client Care Specialist duties (i.e. taking deposits, scheduling appointments, answering internal and external calls, etc.).
  • Confidentiality: With access to proprietary and other confidential information, must be highly trustworthy and able to handle confidential records and bank deposits.
  • Physical Demands: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

    • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fractious animals, various hazardous chemicals, zoonotic diseases and radiation. The employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
  • Other Skills and Abilities: Ability to analyze and resolve problems. Must be organized, detailed and able to prioritize tasks in a fast paced environment.
