Veterinary Assistant - ICU

Proposed Schedule:

Enjoy the opportunity for great work/ life balance, as the schedule consists of three, 12 hour overnight shifts a week, working 6 PM - 6 AM, with rotating weekends

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

While under the supervision of the Hospital Manager and the Technical Supervisor, the VA must be able to effectively and accurately perform the following duties that include but are not limited to:

  • Perform proper restraint techniques
  • Know and understand normal vital signs for dog & cat   
  • Preparation and administration of medications, IV, orally, and topically
  • Radiology
  • Physical examinations and patient assessment
  • Laboratory work
  • Pharmacy
  • Patient recovery
  • Compassionate care for our patients
  • Other duties as assigned*

*Requirements and duties will vary based on experience and patient needs.

Requirements

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

Experience

  • 1-2 years of prior veterinary assistant experience is preferred
  • Prior experience in emergency and critical care is a plus

Education

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Formal Veterinary Assistant education or Applied Science degree preferred
