Veterinary Assistant

Love a quick pace and want a less technical position?  This could be the perfect fit for you! Lakeshore is seeking a Full-time experienced Veterinary Assistant to join our busy Rehabilitation Service in Oak Creek.  


Proposed Schedule:

Four 9 hour shifts per week with occasional weekend shifts

While under the supervision of the Hospital Manager and the Technical Supervisor, the VA must be able to effectively and accurately perform the following duties that include but are not limited to:

  • Perform proper restraint techniques
  • Know and understand normal vital signs for dog & cat   
  • Preparation and administration of medications, IV, orally, and topically
  • Radiology
  • Physical examinations and patient assessment
  • Laboratory work
  • Pharmacy
  • Patient recovery
  • Compassionate care for our patients
  • Other duties as assigned*

*Requirements and duties will vary based on experience and patient needs. 





  • At least 1 years of experience as an assistant preferred
  • Interest or experience with Rehabilitation a plus!



  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Formal Veterinary Technology education or Applied Science degree preferred



  • Computer Skills: Knowledge of Word Processing software. It will also be necessary to become proficient in the use of the practice management software, ImproMed Infinity, and to perform clerical work (update patient records and charges) with speed and accuracy.
  • Client Care and Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication and proficiency at greeting clients graciously. Maintain a harmonious and cooperative relationship with those contacted in the course of a day. We require for all team members to know the basics of our Client Care Specialist duties (i.e. taking deposits, scheduling appointments, answering internal and external calls, etc.).
  • Confidentiality: With access to proprietary and other confidential information, must be highly trustworthy and able to handle confidential records and bank deposits.

    • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fractious animals, various hazardous chemicals, zoonotic diseases and radiation. The employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
  • Other Skills and Abilities: Ability to analyze and resolve problems. Must be organized, detailed and able to prioritize tasks in a fast paced environment.
