Veterinary Assistant

Lakeshore is seeking a part-time Veterinary Assistant to work at our Port Washington hospital!  At Lakeshore Veterinary Specialists, we have an exceptional work environment where employees learn, collaborate and have fun! You would work with talented team members in a multitude of specialties, including surgery, dermatology, oncology, internal medicine, ophthalmology, neurology and a fast-paced, exciting ER.


Tentative Schedule: 

Saturdays & Sundays 6 am - 6 pm

 *Requirements and duties will vary based on experience and patient needs.





  • 1 year veterinary medicine experience



  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Formal Veterinary Assistant education preferred, but not required



  • Computer Skills: Knowledge of Word Processing software. It will also be necessary to become proficient in the use of the practice management software, ImproMed Infinity, and to perform clerical work (update patient records and charges) with speed and accuracy.
  • Client Care and Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication and proficiency at greeting clients graciously. Maintain a harmonious and cooperative relationship with those contacted in the course of a day. We require for all team members to know the basics of our Client Care Specialist duties (i.e. taking deposits, scheduling appointments, answering internal and external calls, etc.).
  • Confidentiality: With access to proprietary and other confidential information, must be highly trustworthy and able to handle confidential records and bank deposits.

    • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fractious animals, various hazardous chemicals, zoonotic diseases and radiation. The employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
  • Other Skills and Abilities: Ability to analyze and resolve problems. Must be organized, detailed and able to prioritize tasks in a fast paced environment.
